ITSM News: Survey Shows ITSM Providers Can Resolve Issues for Reluctant ITIL Adopters

While more than half of the respondents to a recent survey believe ITIL certifications give their businesses an advantage, the remaining respondents simply may be lacking guidance.

As a recent survey from the ILX Group found 51 percent of British IT departments have recognized the advantages of ITIL software. The top reason for the respondents who had not implemented the ITIL guidelines was that their company did not understand the benefits. Additionally, as many respondents were reluctant because of concerns over the risk of failure associated with ITIL software integration projects, assigning the duties to an external specialist in IT service management can help ensure a secure adoption.

Eddie Kilkelly, chief executive at ILX Group, said the risk for ITIL failure is "significantly reduced if staff are trained to properly manage projects and are provided with the right framework and best practices to avoid common mistakes," according to Computerworld UK.

Implementing experts in IT service management can resolve the concerns of business executives, as poor communications, missed deadlines and cost overruns were the top three reasons for ITIL project failure. Assigning an IT service management provider eliminates the risk for ITIL adoption failure, as they prevent these problems from arising during ITIL integration projects.
