The report acknowledges the advantages of integrating the best practices offered by ITIL guidelines and stresses the benefits of consulting those standards when trying to maximize IT productivity. Service providers have become an essential factor to the successful implementation of ITIL software as businesses typically have benefited from external assistance in the beginning stages of IT service management adoption.
"Too often there is confusion on where to begin, what the service provider really needs to do [and] how much do they need to do," the report explained. "Though ITIL says do what the business needs, there often is uncertainly on where to begin, or how much [maturity] is needed for any process."
As a result, ITSM softare providers have been sought to integrate convenient solutions for seamless ITIL integration.
